Norris Hill Community Group lease the Community Orchard space from the Council and have a licence to cultivate the rose beds on both sides of the road. We run volunteer sessions throughout the year to maintain these areas. Different tasks are undertaken as the season dictates. These sessions are open to all and last just a couple of hours. We usually provide some cake or biscuits and sometimes a drink. The next volunteer session will be held on Friday July 3rd from about 10am until noon. We will be keeping on top of the weeds in the rosebeds and taking off some dead-heads. Probably attacking some brambles and maybe mowing the paths in the orchard and a bit of general tidying as well. Do come and join us if you can! Even if you don't want to do any of the tasks, you are always welcome to stop by for a chat.Sessions may be cancelled at short notice, so if you are intending to join us, it is best to make contact via email or Facebook to confirm: norrishillcommunitygroup@gmail.com. Please wear clothes suitable for the weather and for the tasks: strong gloves are needed if dealing with roses or brambles. Boots or strong shoes are advisable. We will provide hi-viz if we are working on the rose beds. Tools are provided but feel free to bring your own. |
